Experiencing dry, uncomfortable, fatigued eyes during the winter isn’t something that’s uncommon for a lot of people. If you feel like your eyes are extra dry this winter, then this article is just the thing for you. From adding humidity to your air to using eye drops, let’s take a closer look at a few simple ways for you to find some much-needed relief from your dry eye. Read on to learn some more.
Get a Humidifier
When the air is really dry and cold during the winter it can make your eyes dry out, but when you add warm heat from your heater, it can just magnify the problem. To help you get some of that moisture back into your air, consider using a humidifier. If you can, try to keep a humidifier running throughout the day or whenever you are home.
Try a Damp Washcloth
Right before you go to sleep at night and first thing in the morning, try grabbing a warm, damp washcloth and lay it across your eyes. Both the heat and the moisture from the washcloth will help to hydrate your eyes and hopefully give you some of that added relief.
Use Eye Drops
Whether they are over-the-counter or prescription strength, eye drops can be a real lifesaver during this time of year. During your eye examination with one of our doctors, they will determine whether or not they think that on over the counter option will do the trick or if you need something with a little bit more power in it.
