Let’s face it, the last thing you want to do when you have tired, itching, watery eyes are getting ready and sit in front of a camera for a holiday family photo. But, ‘tis the season, which means whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get camera ready. If, however, you suffer from chronic dry eye and experience those nasty symptoms listed above, you may be dreading this upcoming photo session more than going to work on a Monday morning. Luckily, here at Wilkinson Eye Center, we may be able to help.
LipiFlow Treatment
There are a variety of different ways that we can treat chronic dry eye including oral medication, medicated eye drops, and more. As one of the methods that we like to use at Wilkinson Eye Center, the LipiFlow treatment gives patients excellent results every time.
To help you better understand the LipiFlow treatment, let’s take a closer look at how dry eyes are caused. Your tears are responsible for keeping your eyes lubricated and functioning properly, in most dry eye cases, the meibomian glands, which help to produce tears, become clogged— leaving your eyes dried out in the process.
With the LipiFlow treatment, thermal pulsation works to gently heat the inner eyelid while breaking up any debris or bacteria that’s causing the blockage in the meibomian glands. This releases the pressure and unblocks the meibomian glands— helping restore lubrication to your eyes.
Having dry eyes can be beyond uncomfortable and annoying— they can also make doing normal things like taking holiday photos seem impossible. Luckily, with the help of treatments such as LipiFlow, our doctors at Wilkinson Eye Center can get rid of your chronic dry eye in no time.
