The school year is just about to start, which means that if you are the parent of young kids, you’ve got your work cut out for you. In addition to buying new school supplies, clothes, and shoes, you also need to make sure that your child’s vision is in good shape. But how? Here at Wilkinson Eye Center, we have created a list of a few ways that you can get your kids’ eyes ready for school. Whether your kids don’t wear glasses or they do, we have a few tips for you.
Your Kids Don’t’ Have Glasses
If your kids don’t have glasses, there is no better time to see if they need them quite like the beginning of the school year. Rather than waiting until your child complains that they can’t see the whiteboard at school, jump ahead of things and have their eyes tested at our office. If they don’t need glasses, great! If they do need glasses, we can also help them out just in time for the first day back at school.
Your Kids Do Have Glasses
If your kids do wear glasses, then chances are that they are in need of a new prescription if they haven’t gotten one in the last year or so. By getting an eye exam, we can see how well their current prescription is working for them and then gauge whether or not they need to get a new one. The good news about getting new glasses is that we can typically replace the lenses so that they can keep their old frames.
Typical signs in children who need glasses include fatigue, eye rubbing, blurred vision, headaches, and dizziness if your child is experiencing any or all of these signs, schedule an eye exam with us at our Pontiac or Clarkston offices and call us at (248) 625-5922.
