If you have been doing most of your holiday shopping online then you know just how much easier it can be. However, amidst all of that online shopping if you have noticed that your eyes feel heavy and fatigued, then you may have a condition called dry eye.
What Is Dry Eye?
Your eyes need to stay moist and lubricated in order for you to see properly. When you have chronic dry eyes, your eyes are unable to produce enough tears to keep them moisturized and hydrated which can lead to more severe eye conditions later on down the line. Typically, patients with dry eye experience a variety of vision issues including:
- Itching
- Burning
- Eye fatigue
- Aching or sore eyes
- Redness
- Blurred vision
- Sensitivity to light
- Grittiness or foreign body sensation
How Is it treated?
Depending on how severe your dry eye is, we at Wilkinson Eye Center may recommend something as small as taking more frequent breaks from staring at your computer screen to something a little bit more advanced like LipiFlow dry eye treatment.
How Is it diagnosed?
Here at Wilkinson Eye Center, we use a screening with LipiScan which allows us to observe and track the structure of the Meibomian glands. Without this sort of high-resolution imaging, we would be unable to successfully look at and track the process of your Meibomian glands. Once we have seen the structure of your meibomian glands, we will be able to better diagnose you and treat you moving forward.
The best thing that you can do to treat dry eye is to come into our office for an examination. After we have properly examined your eyes, we will then be able to determine what the best treatment plan will be for you and this eye condition. If you want to learn a little bit more about dry eye and how it is treated, contact our Pontiac or Clarkston office and give us a call at (248) 334-4931.
