See Into the New Year With Better Vision

Eye Exam Clarkston, MIThere’s no better time of year than the new year to create a list of resolutions. And although weight loss or healthy eating habits may top your list, don’t forget about other areas of your body like your eyes. See into the new year with better vision with these easy tips.

Remember, You Are What You Eat

If your diet consists of regular hamburgers and few, if any, vegetables, then you aren’t more susceptible to diseases like obesity and diabetes, but you are also depriving your body of critical nutrients that are good for all parts of your body– including your vision. Try to make a goal this year to eat fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods that contain high amounts of vitamin C, Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Zinc, and Vitamin E– all of which are good nutrients for your eyes.

Get Regular Eye Examinations

Depending on your age, family history, and some other factors, we at Wilkinson Eye Center typically recommend that adults get an eye exam every year or two. If you can’t even remember the last time you had your eyes checked, make sure to schedule an appointment at our office!

Practice Good Habits

If you’re looking for another vision related goal to set in 2018, start practicing better habits. For instance, make sure that you wash your hands before you put in and take out your contacts, that you don’t rub your eyes, and that you are soaking your contacts in a clean solution and case every night before bed. These simple tips will protect you from harmful bacterial infections and other issues.
