Dr. Devon Nicole St. Louis grew up in Farmington Hills, MI. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in biopsychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and graduated with her Optometry Doctorate from the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO) at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. While at MCO, Dr. St. Louis received many honors, including the Michigan Optometric Association Student of the Year and the American Optometric Association Leadership Award. She is a member of the American and Michigan Optometric Associations, including the Contact Lens and Cornea Section, in addition to being a founding member of the MCO Alumni Association.

Dr. St. Louis is involved with many local charities,community,and international service projects, such as providing optometric services for the annual Michigan Special Olympics, in addition to participating in a mission trip to Grenada with SVOSH to provide glasses and ocular healthcare to over 2,000 local residents in need. She completed internships with Henry Ford Hospital, Jackson State Prison, and multiple private practices. Dr. St. Louis was diagnosed with Lupus in 2000. This provides her with an extensive background in how autoimmune diseases and systemic conditions and their medications interact with both the body and the eye.As a medical-complex patient most of her life, she offers a unique perspective towards the care of all her patients.

In 2021 Dr. St. Louis was nominated to the Board of Directors for Little Heroes League, a nonprofit organization that serves infants with complex medical conditions and their families (www.littleheroesleague.org). She enjoys spending time with her husband Paul and son Alex either on their boat, on the ski slopes, or nerding out to Marvel and Star Wars movies.

Shareef Ahmed, M.D.

One out of only a handful of dual fellowship-trained retina and glaucoma surgeons in the world, Shareef Ahmed, M.D. specializes in treating complex vitreo-retinal disease with concurrent primary or secondary glaucoma. He has presented at international meetings and authored several works in national peer-reviewed journals on surgical techniques, eye infections, and characterizing new ocular diseases. He is actively involved in teaching new resident ophthalmologists and collaborating with other eye care professionals to further our knowledge of dangerous ocular conditions.

Dr. Ahmed earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He went on to complete his ophthalmology training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where he also received advanced training in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and retinal diseases. There he received awards for excellence in medical care and teaching.

Dr. Ahmed is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He was elected a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for his exemplary medical care and ethic. He actively participates in international medical mission work in underserved, third world countries. He feels strongly that a kind and supportive bedside manner is important when treating patients with potentially blinding eye disease.

Sherry Dustman, O.D.

Sherry Dustman, O.D. | Optometrist Pontiac MI | Eye Doctor Clarkston MI

Wilkinson Eye Center is pleased to announce the return of Optometrist Dr. Sherry Dustman.

Dr. Dustman grew up in Michigan. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry after completing her Bachelors of Science degree from Michigan State University.

Dr. Dustman has been involved in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). This included a mission trip to Thailand where she helped serve hundreds of people with their eye care needs.

Her experiences have drawn her to specialty contact lens fits, scleral and multifocal contact lens fits, keratoconus, and post-surgical care. We are excited to have Dr. Dustman involved in our expanded care of chronic dry eyes.

Dr. Dustman is an ABO Certified Diplomat. She is a caring professional dedicated to providing the highest level of healthcare.

She will be seeing patients in both our Pontiac and Clarkston offices.

W. Scott Wilkinson, M.D.

eye doctor pontiac miDr. W. Scott Wilkinson is a third generation eye doctor (ophthalmologist) in one of the oldest medical practices in the State of Michigan. He began private practice in 1989. As one of the areas premier eye doctors, Dr. Wilkinson is board certified in ophthalmology.

Education

Dr. Wilkinson received his BA in biology from Albion College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan.

He went on to complete a fellowship in corneal surgery and external diseases of the eye at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University. He received the Slocum Award at the University of Michigan in 1989 for research in glaucoma.

Publications & Awards

Dr. Wilkinson has been a contributing member to a number of presentations and publications in leading medical journals. He is a Past President of the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He is a past Chair of the Division of Ophthalmology at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was honored in 2009 as the Distinguished Alumni for the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. Dr. Wilkinson performs surgery at TruVista Surgery Center in Troy and Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center in Fraser. In addition to specializing in cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation, corneal transplantation and treatment of glaucoma, Dr. Wilkinson also offers the newest multi-focal cataract lens implant. He performs refractive surgery, including PRK for the correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Originally from the Toledo, OH area, Dr. Smith came to Michigan for schooling at the University of Michigan. She is a third-generation alumni. Dr. Smith received her BA in biology, Teacher Certification and pharmaceutical degree from the University of Michigan. She received her medical degree from Wayne State University. She completed a residency in ophthalmology at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. She served her internship at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. She went on to complete her residency at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan . Dr. Smith is board certified in ophthalmology. Dr. Smith has been a contributing member to a number of presentations, publications and research projects. She is a member of the following professional societies:
